So I have just gotten back from seeing what I believe is one of the most scariest films this year. I have to say that this is the third time that I have watched it, and yes I still jumped even though I new the goat shaped demon was going to pop up and poke his tongue out. I went with my boyfriend and best friend, my boyfriend has like me seen it three times so I believe he was quite bored, got this idea from the fact he tried to use me as a pillow to go to sleep on. My bestfriend however was a mess, seeing her scared made me more scared and I am only now beginning to regain feeling in my hand!
I do wounder why so many people love to watch horror films and be frightened out of there minds, theres obviously a market for it. It was the last showing today and there were still quite a few people there to watch. I am not criticizing people for seeing horror films, that would be make me a hypocrite, I love a good horror film. For me its being deathly scared of something on camera that I know realistically is never going to happen, but still at the back of my mind I do wounder if I ever will be chased by a goat shaped demon wanting to get inside my body... lets hope not.
Maybe because we lack that adrenaline excitement that being scared gives us in our everyday lives. We no longer hunt for our food or defend our territory. Theres no need to be defensive and as animals who are hunting and are being hunting are described 'highly alert'. Maybe that's why we get our adrenaline soaked excitement in the shape of a good horror and a bag of popcorn.
